Karen Slatten
Program Director
Co-founder
Karen has over a decade of experience in film and theater arts. Karen has also worked and volunteered with several youth-oriented organizations. She is a Redcoat with the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce. She serves on the 2022 Leadership Board for the Cenla Young Professionals Group. Karen attends LSUA where she is completing a degree in Psychology and works as a peer mentor with the SPERO Program. Karen brings her expertise in arts and education to Cenla Voices' programming.
Jonathan Belgard
Workshop Coordinator
Co-founder
Jonathan is a prolific playwright and poet who has written, directed and acted in several productions throughout the Cenla area. He received his BA in Playwrighting from LSUA. He works as an English/Language Arts instructor for the Rapides Parish School Board. Jonathan brings his expertise in storytelling to the creation of Cenla Voices' programming.
Caroline Randall Boudreaux
Instructor
Caroline is a talented theater and visual artist. Caroline has worked at the Arts Council of Central Louisiana and as an intern for Longleaf Hospital. She serves on the board of Spectral Sisters Productions and is an active member of many local arts organizations. Caroline received her bachelor's degree in Performing Arts with a concentration in Dance from ULL. She is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Social Work from LCU. Caroline brings several years of performance, production and non-profit administration experience to the Cenla Voices' Team.
Doan Moran
Technical Advisor
Doan is a St. Joan D'Arc Medallion recipient and has two decades of experience helping military families with LA National Guard Family Readiness Programs. Doan has served as an instructor for the Communications Department at LSUA. She has served on the Alexandria/Pineville Mayors' Commission for Women. Doan received her Masters in Communication Studies from ULM. She brings a wealth of expertise in the arts, health care and communications to her role with Cenla Voices.
Catherine D. Kent
Instructor
Catherine is an Arnold Fletcher Award recipient for excellence in academic achievement. She works as the Writing Center Team Leader for LSUA. She has interned for the Louisiana Maneuvers and Military Museum. Catherine is pursuing her Masters in Creative Writing from Harvard University. Catherine volunteers with veteran and youth organizations in Cenla. Her work has informed her contributions to Cenla Voices in a uniquely constructive way.
Ashley Weaver
Workshop Design Consultant
Ashley is an Edgar-nominated author of the popular Amory Ames and Electra McDonnell mystery series. She works as Technical Services Advisor for the Allen Parish Library. Ashley received her MLIS (Library Science) from LSU. She was integral in structuring the curriculum for our first workshop. Ashley brings her expertise in writing, publishing and data science to the Cenla Voices Team.
Amanda Sanchez Phillips
Instructor
Amanda is a three-time recipient of acceptance to the National Undergraduate Literary Conference. She received the Teacher of the Year honor for her work as instructor of AP English at Bolton High School. Amanda is the owner of Tamp & Grind where she nurtures a thriving creative community. Amanda serves on the Managing Board of Alexandria Museum of Art. She received her BLS in English from LSUA. She brings a wealth of writing, performing and instructing expertise to Cenla Voices' program design.
